Corrections Policy

When we get something wrong, we correct it visibly. This page explains what qualifies as a correction, how corrections are logged, and how quickly you can expect one.

1. What we correct

We treat any factual error as a correction - an incorrect eligibility rule, an out-of-date device price, a misspelled name, an incorrect statute citation, a mis-attributed quote, or a broken link that led to the wrong destination.

Opinion pieces (which are labeled as such) may be updated for clarity or additional context; substantive factual errors inside them are still corrected the same way.

2. How to report an error

Email editorial@lifelinefreeiphone.com with the URL, the exact sentence that is wrong, and - if you have it - a link to the primary source that shows the correct information. We acknowledge every report within two business days.

3. How corrections appear on the page

Once a correction is confirmed by a second editor:

  1. The inaccurate text is replaced or removed within 24 hours.
  2. A visible Correction note is added at the top of the affected page describing what was changed and when.
  3. The Last updated date on the page is refreshed.
  4. The correction is added to our public corrections log (available on request).
  5. Where a factual error appeared on social channels, a correction is posted there too.

Silent edits - quietly changing text without a visible note - are prohibited by our editorial policy.

4. Retractions

When an article is fundamentally wrong and cannot be rescued by editing, we retract it. The URL remains live and shows a full retraction notice describing what was wrong and, where possible, pointing to the correct guidance.

5. Response times

  • Acknowledgement of your correction request: within 2 business days.
  • Correction published on the page (if confirmed): within 24 hours of confirmation.
  • Full retraction (if warranted): within 5 business days.
